Louise Baca MSN, RN

Louise Baca MSN, RN joined the Maine Bleeding Disorders Center (MBDC) in 2017. Louise has been in healthcare for over 40 years and specialized in oncology for the greater part of her nursing career. Her oncology experience has been well rounded working in various settings which include inpatient oncology, outpatient infusion, clinical laboratory, nursing preceptor, clinical research, and nursing adjunct faculty instructor. Louise has been in an administrative role for the past 14 years and is currently Senior Director at Maine Medical Center, MaineHealth.

During the past 6 years, Louise has provided executive leadership to the MBDC in Scarborough, Maine and is passionate about offering a quality and comprehensive program to people living with bleeding and clotting disorders. Under Louise’s leadership, the MBDC program has expanded exponentially in patient volume, outreach, and human resources. Since 2017, the program has grown from 2.5 FTEs to 15 FTEs, providing patients in Maine and New Hampshire with a truly comprehensive clinical care team. Louise has presented locally, regionally, and nationally on various topics including developing, engaging, and retaining a comprehensive clinical care team and social determinants and disparities affecting the bleeding disorders population. In addition, Louise oversees the 340b program which has enabled the MBDC program to expand services and increase the staffing complement, enabling the MBDC to care for patients and families in the most comprehensive manner.

Louise currently serves as a member of the New England Regional Executive (NER)Committee and is the Chair of the NER Executive Finance Committee. In 2023, the MBDC participated in a NER pilot program with the National Hemophilia Program Coordinating Center (NHPCC) and Geographic Info Systems (GIS)to identify and address the underserved population in the state. This pilot is the springboard from which many outreach initiatives will be launched to increase access and create awareness of our program.

Louise graduated from Atlantic Cape Community College, Mays Landing, New Jersey with an Associate Degree in Nursing, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Administration.
